WOAH!! That week went way too fast.... and by week I mean weekend. What did we all get up to? I spent some time back home visiting the parents.. good for a little bit of R & R before the final stress inducing week of exam cram..
Sadly for this and next week, my life is going to be a bit dull and study-filled, aka reading notes in between Facebook/Bejeweled Blitz (my not so secret obsession)...
Read below for a review of True Blood, Pez's debut album 'A Mind of My Own' and some random thoughts from myself...
I'm Watching
True Blood is a series released in the US released September 2008 and follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid in Louisiana in the unique universe that is True Blood. Here, the world knows about Vampires and they coexist with Humans (the title of the series coming from a synthetic form of blood developed for the Vampires instead of chompin' down on the real thing), without giving too much away the story begins with Sookie, who is not your everyday human being and her meeting the mysterious Vampire known as Bill Compton.
I found True Blood to be a little slow to begin with, maybe it was the unusual nature of the characters, or their southern accents I'm not too sure. Having just finished watching the first season (I know a bit slow on the uptake) I can say I'm thoroughly hooked now, but still not to the level of other series. There is a lot of potential here for a very long series and I am keen to find out the rest of what happens, when I get the time to watch it, along with the strange urge to go and buy a big american-style 'truck' not unlike Jason Stackhouse's...
I'm finding this series interesting but a little slow, I'm sure there is further potential (and no doubt an increase in speed) as the series progresses.. 7/10
I'm Listening To
Melbourne-born hip hop artis Pez's 2009 debut album: A Mind of My Own. Holy. Freaking. Crap.... this album is awesome! If you are an Oz Hip Hop fan and have not got onto Pez's stuff you are missing out!
For those of you in the know, you may remember The Festival Song a track by Pez (featuring the lyrical stylings of 360) that managed to reach number seven in Triple J's Hottest 100 Countdown in 2008.
This album is so chilled and relaxed it would be perfect for pumping on those summer days when you're just kickin' it with your mates at home or cruising down at the beach. These Days would be my favourite track, featuring the amazing vocals of Hailey Craimer of Blue King Brown (who also contains singer Jess Harlen who some of you may remember from the awesome jass-esque track Don't Worry About Nothin' by Muph and Plutonic). Australian Hip Hop at its finest.. Listen! Listen now! ...9/10
ZzzzZzzzZzzz...
Is what I should be doing right now... but like the name of this blog post, I can't sleep.. and I need your help. I'm designing a small tribal-esque Pisces tattoo and am lacking in creative vision. If you have any ideas feel free to comment the blog/fb post or inbox me somehow.... don't be shy kids it's good for you.
As you can see we have fishies, and the Pisces symbol in the center.. but what else can I do?
Please check out this track The Message created by one of my friends in memory of a friend who passed away, it's amazing...
